With over twenty years of experience in the entertainment industry, Kerry has seen and done it all. From pop superstardom to reality TV queen, her rise to the top has been one of extreme career highs and massive personal lows - but she’s never stopped striving to be the best she can be.
Now a mother of five, Kerry is happily settled with her fiancé Ryan and their brood and remains one of the most talked about, celebrated women in showbiz. More in demand than ever, she’s due to feature in some huge TV shows over the coming months. Her new dating app Marnii is proving a massive hit with singles, and she’s planning a nationwide tour in which she’ll share her many experiences with mental health.
But make no mistake about it, it’s been a tough road for the Warrington born star, and having been open about her battles with Bipolar, drugs and alcohol in the past, Kerry’s honesty has only endeared her to the public more - and her struggles have made her achievements all the more remarkable.
Her impressive CV boasts four Top Ten singles with Atomic Kitten, the girl group she founded 22 years ago. After leaving the band to have her daughters Molly and Lilly, Kerry stepped out of the limelight, only to return as a panellist on Loose Women, a role she had for two years.
And then came I’m A Celeb. Described by Kerry as ‘one of the greatest experiences of my life’, (I MIGHT HAVE MADE THAT QUOTE UP), she gobbled up grubs and bedded down with bugs in the Australian jungle, all the while capturing the hearts of the nation with her no nonsense, fearless attitude and down to earth nature. So it was little surprise when millions of viewers voted her the winner, which in turn led to a series of sponsorships with high profile supermarket chain, Iceland.
By now a bonafide national treasure, a stint as a judge on the Irish Version of the X Factor, ‘You’re A Star’, followed and - years before Love Island and TOWIE were even a glint in ITV’s eye - Kerry became one of the original stars of reality TV with her show ‘My Fair Kerry’. In fact the public couldn’t get enough of her warm wit and charm, and between 2007 and 2009, she starred in FIVE of her own reality shows, drawing in over half a million viewers to MTV every week.
When her personal life was dealt a blow following her second divorce and rumours of a breakdown, Kerry came back fighting with another ITV2 show, ‘Kerry Coming Clean’, where she set the record straight about the tabloid scandals that had dogged her. It was proof she’d turned her life around and it wasn’t long before prime time came calling once more. What followed were successful appearances on Dancing on Ice, Celebrity Big Brother (where she came second) and The Big Reunion, which saw her join forces once more with old pals Atomic Kitten. Before finding forever love with Ryan, Kerry even tried her luck on E4’s Celebs Go Dating, by then realising she could make a better matchmaker than client, eventually paving the way for Marnii.
And if all that wasn’t enough, Kerry is a prolific writer, with two biographies and three novels to her name, as well as a hugely popular column in New magazine in which she gives her views on the news and her life every week.
For anyone who says women can’t have it all - take a look at Kerry Katona. Proof that hard work - and a bit of northern charm - truly pays off.
